Melanie Thompson is a filmmaker and animator from Boulder, Colorado. As Communications and Special projects Director for the Colorado Local Science Engagement Projects she produces the video series Better Know a Colorado Border. She was awarded a prestigious Fulbright Research Fellowship in 2021 to produce short documentaries about indigenous communities in Taiwan. Prior to that she was studying Mandarin on a Huayu Language Scholarship in Taipei, and acquainting herself with Taiwan’s rich culture (and delicious food). She has a BA in Visual Storytelling and Asian Studies from St. Olaf College.
